We aim to serve local communities by meeting their needs for local news, information and advertising services through a range of media.  Numerous studies point to the importance of ‘local’.  Here are some facts and figures…

1. Local newspapers are more than twice as trusted as any other media channel in the UK1 and significantly more trusted for local news than Facebook.2

2. 30.9 million people read a local newspaper every week, making it the most widely read print medium in Britain.3

3. 92% of consumers like companies that involve themselves in the local community.  84% are more likely to buy brands that give something back to the local community.4, 5

4. Local media websites attract 62 million unique users each month.4

5. 11.5 million people in the UK read a local newspaper but do not read a national newspaper.3

6. 61% of adults read a local newspaper.3

7. Over 60% of people act on the ads in local newspapers.6

8. Advertising on local newspaper websites is 77% more likely to be believed and relied upon than advertising on other websites.7

9. 11.3 million more UK adults read a local newspaper (30.9 million) than listen to commercial radio (19.6 million).3
